◈ 무문관 서문의 게송 ◈
무문관(無門關)은 중국 남송의 선승인 무문혜개가 48개의 화두를 모아 엮은 불서로서 선종무문관이라고도 한다.
본 게송은 무문관 서문의 사족(蛇足)으로 실려있는 게송이다.
大道無門 (대도무문) 대도는 문이 없다.
“The great path has no gate.”
千差有路 (천차유로) 천차만별로 길이 있으나
“There are countless paths.”
透得此關 (투득차관) 이 관을 꿰뚫어 얻으면
“If you pass through this barrier…”
乾坤獨步 (건곤독보) 하늘 땅에 홀로 걸으리라.
“You will walk alone under heaven and earth.”
※ 이 게송은 깨달음의 길이 본래 열려 있지만, 그 깨달음은 쉽게 얻을 수 없음을 강조합니다. 다양한 길을 통해 진리를 추구하되, 수행자는 본질적 깨달음을 위해서 특정 관문_공안_을 넘어야 한다.
This gāthā emphasizes that while the path to enlightenment is open and boundless, the realization of this truth is not easily attained. Though many paths exist, the practitioner must confront a specific barrier (a koan) to reach awakening.
※ 이 관문을 통과한 뒤에는 천지 사이에 자유롭고 독립적인 존재로 거듭나게 된다. 이는 집착과 분별을 초월한 상태이며, 진리의 본질과 하나가 된 삶을 가리킨다.
Passing through the gate leads to a state of ultimate freedom, where one lives without attachment or delusion, united with the essence of all things.
