But that the fisherman is most beautiful as a fisherman,

And the farmer is most beautiful as a farmer.

 

For the true artist,

For the genuine seeker,

What matters is not individuality,

 

But that the artist confronts the canvas without fear,

 

And the seeker faces the cycle of life and death without trembling,

 

For those who walk their own path, they are truly beautiful.

뽐낸 개성

이미 빗나간 개성이니

있는 그대로 참모습 아니라네.

 

삶의 모습

있는 그대로 보아야 아름답다.

 

고기잡는 어부에게

밭가는 농부에게

개성 보다

 

어부는 어부답고

농부는 농부다우니 아름답다.

 

진정한 화가에게

참 수행자에게

개성 보다

 

화가는 화가답게

캔버스 두려워 않고

 

수행자는 수행자답게

생사윤회 두려워 않으며

 

제 갈 길 가는

사람이 아름답다네.
