◈ From Time Immemorial To The Present Day ◈
In the words of the Buddha,
「The primordial ignorance arose suddenly in a distant, immeasurable past.」
What does this truly mean?
The term 「immeasurable past」
does not refer to a specific point in ancient history.
It signifies a deep Level of conscious awareness,
the depths of the mind's black hole.
It is not a concept of past tense,
but rather 「the pure mind obscured By ignorance.」
「The beginning cannot be known」 signifies
a 「state of unconsciousness of the mind.」
「Suddenly arose」 means that
「Ignorance arose unconsciously in a moment」
from the unfathomable black hole of the mind.
In our conscious state, it is not easy to perceive
when and how the pure mind became obscured by ignorance.
